Tell us about your character and their history:
In life:
Yasufe Lacroix was a Very Dark skinned human whose family were Alterac Refugees of the second war that were residing in Lorderon. Culturally, they had been a group which practiced its own form of animism and ancestor veneration. When the various human tribes were united and the adoptation of the Holy Light became manditory; his family's cultural practices and beliefs continued on in secret, most of were syncornized or codified into the holy light teachings.
Community wide suspicion of the Alterac diaspora lead them traveling from city to city until they finally settled on the quiet city-isle of Caer Darrow. Here the family began to thrive (and maintain historical practices), while integrating themselves into the society at large. While they remained active in the church of the holy light, they would make a name for themselves through fortune telling and soothe-saying; which caught the attention of the Ruling House Barov.
Often times his parents would be involved with ordeals at the Barov Mansion, weeks would sometimes turn to months. That time was plenty for curiosity to boil over into scalding ruin, leading him to venture alone in search of anwnsers. There were good reasons why his parents did not show up; they were a part of something greater, something so great they could not risk him going out to tell the rest of the world, at least not as he drew breath.
Along side his parents the last thing he saw was the twisted visage of a high elven woman invoking a powerful incantation of shadow he had never heard before. "Don't worry... you can thank your parents that you won't be mindless..., you should be honored, so many would *envy* this opportunity of trancendance..." That thalassian thick voice was like sweet poison, as beautiful as it was terrifying; as was the angering darkness that enveloped him so suddenly.
In Unlife:
He awoke in a state of unstate, and Impossible contradiction of liberation and overhwhelming entanglement. All around him he could see his ancestors, They were calling for him, he could hear them, and even see them, and he sought to go along with them but *HORRIBLE* pain wretched him back. Pain that would not go away until he began to listen to this voice, This voice which commanded him to rise--And so he did.
The Lich King, the material world, and the Necropolis Acherus came into view alongside its spiritual paradies that made him realize he was not only dead and a spirit, but paradoxically manifested in the physical realm with a physical body. A physical body that had been almost perfectly preserved in a gentle repose years probly, his chocolate brown skin still having a slight sheen, yet he was not breathing and he continously coughed up a horrible black ichor.
"Anger....Cruelty...and VENGENACE....." the words reveberated his entire being and un-being, chastizing words that oppressed as much as they liberated, he realized these words were now his very nature. So much so was it his nature that his conciousness found itself uncontrollably submerged with an unholy frenzy to inflict pain and suffering lest he legitimaly go *Insane* ...if he already wasn't somehow.
He understood his purpose and he fulfilled it driven by that horrible voice that rebuked him into action as a Child of Acherus and all the historical events that transpired in that place and time. When his liberation followed and the forces of the Ebon Blade were established, He joined in Tow with the Ashen Verdict to obtain Vengeance for the events he realized transpired right under his nose in life.
After the Lich King:
Despite the Lich King's defeat and re-instatment of a new Leader of the Scourge, Yasufe found the voices of his ancestors to be even louder than before. The alliance thought of him as a monster, and even his other comrades within the ebon blade seemed to almost enjoy playcating the living for some sort of acceptance. Yasufe found this equally pathetic as it was disgusting, as he was not in the interest of denying what he had become. However, purpose became a quickly fleeting thing, and the thought of fully crossing over became as incessant as the need to inflict pain on the living. Introspection would prove to be the best therapy in the long run, and the path of discovery to the cult of forgotten shadow.
With these umbral teachings, Yasufe could realize a true trancendance into shadow forged by his own effort, unlike the imperfect forced transition he exprienced at the hands of the Lich King. All the more estranged from the Alliance and fellow Ebon Blade members he found himself returning home to Lorderon stalking and haunting its ruins for years. After the passing of the Cataclysm and even the discovery of the land beyond the mists, he finally reached out to Undercity in an attempt to join swear his loyalty to the Forsaken and the Banshee Queen.
While no word back has ever been recived, he continues to study in solitude waiting for the day that he might be truely at home again, in the land of his birth.
How well versed are you in Warcraft lore:
I've read every official Warcraft novel that's been released with the exception of War-Crimes. I also sat and listened to many Lore panels, wiki's and Lore channels on youtube. Trolls and Lore concerning Sylvanas and her affiliated groups of people are a specailty of mine. I can say any areas that I"m weak in I can find ample refrence material to quickly brush up on or learn information on relevant to whatever story or situation I may find myself in. (or need to coordinate oocly)
Do you know much about apothecary RP (Don't be afraid to tell us no! We aren't looking for people that know everything after all. Learning about it is fun too!) :
I know how WoW has made refrence to how the Royal Apothicary operates(that blight lyfe). Putress was interesting as hell. With that said I never acutally RP'd as a Forsaken before, so I am going to say no to this question in the interest of learning more specifically how you all perfer to do things as far as that's concerned.
What resources have you used to learn more about lore/RP:
I mentioned earlier, but the warcraft novels, pannels with metzen and the Lore devs, warcraft wiki's and channels dedicated to lore on youtube.
General
What is your character's name? (List your actual in game name as well so we can find you! ;D ):
Yasufe Lacroix
What class and level is your character:
Level 100 Death Knight
What other guilds have you been in:
I haven't been in any releveant guilds for RP since wrath of the lich king. Since then I've essentially been Pvp'ing and Doing walk-up RP with folks. (pretty painful exprience as a death knight....-sighs-)
You
How did you hear about us:
Random Encounter with a very cool looking Undead Rogue sitting in front of the Orgrimmar auction house while I was leveling an alt. They made the the suggestion to fill out an application and give you guys a try since i said I was always interested in having a Forsaken character. (just never got around to making one :/ )
Why do you want to join TLoV:
From what I can see, You are the only PvP-RP guild dedicated to Forsaken RP specifically with so much history. I saw on your site you had a three year anniversary. I'd like to apply and give you guys a try; its been a while since I really got to bite into some good RP and you all look extreamly coordinated. Your recruitment video also got me motivated.
How active are you:
I have Thursday and Fridays off, and evenings for now. My schedule will change at the start of next month where I will go in later in the afternoon and come home later at night. I am however on daily, and with enough warning and planning I can arrange to be on for long periods of time.
What do you think it means to be part of a guild:
A guild membership is a give and take relationship. It seems that you get out of one, what you put into it. Having a network of people you can share a common exprience with goes a long way; but that's all dependant on weather or not you enguage it. There's a layer of resonsiblity that comes with it as well because each individual is a part of a greater collective; so actions done with that name above your head reflect on the greater collective. More over a guild is supposed to be another means the individual can have fun when its all said and done, so doing so in a way that doesn't compromise everyone else is also something to keep in mind. --That's a guild to me in a nutshell.
Optional Bonus Questions
Give a brief history of the Forsaken:
The Forsaken are citizens of the Former seat of the Alliance, Lorderon. Through the alaborate plans of Ner'zul, known also as the Lich King; its denizens were a step in an elaborate plan for the Lich King's freedom from the frozen throne. Using a proxy group known as the cult of the damned, Former Kirin'Tor archmage Kel'thazud transfered the curse of undeath through grain repositories in Anderhol, and distributed it to the whole kingdom. Alliance Forces found out too late about the plot and most of the kingdom became living dead iterations of themselves all under the Formal Rebuke of the Lich King.
As more and more humans, half elves and high elves fell victim to the curse of undeath, The former Prince of Lorderon fell under the influence of the lich king's cult of the damned, and gained necromatic powers to command and rebuke the undead as well. Wielding the Lich king's power over Undead, Arthas nearly destroyed Quel'thalas to seek the power of the sunwell residing within. It was during this conflict Ranger General Sylvanas Windrunner would join Arthas' Scourge as a Banshee.
Forced to destroy her own people and leave her city she swore to save in its death throes, The banshee queen and a company of her best rangers followed Arthas back to Lorderon with the goal of destroying the last vestiges of defense Lorderon had, Dalaran. Taking advantage however Sylvanas was able to seize opprtunity and get the upper hand on Arthas as his powers were starting to weaken. To perserve himself and get to the Ice-crown to join with the Lich King, the rebuke residing over the Undead of Lorderon had to be let go. In essence the vast majority of undead which had not totally become mindless now regained shards of their conciousness, enough to not give in to the necromatic commands of Arthas or the Lich King.
This same thing also applied to Sylvanas and all those whom had accompanied her. Sylvana's forces regrouped, reorganized, reclaimed their old bodies and marched on the capital city of Lorderon Controlled then by Forces meant to over-see the scourge. Recruting many liberated undead, Sylvanas rallied against the former capital and reclaimed it; even convincing one of the Natherizim Over-seers Varmithius to side with her, and help secure the rest of the Kingdom. Sylvanas named herself the Sole Sovern of the Land, A Queen and Dark Lady to Lorderon, and dubbed those undead willing to ally with her the Forsaken.
Since then they dedicated their existance to perserving what they knew in life seeing it as a right to exist in unlife starting with the right to self perservation and defense (or offense) to anything that would threaten any of those rights. The Forsaken have and will continue to do so with the Dark Lady Herself reminding others annually at the wickerman festival during hallows end what it took to establish themselves as a kingdom and why even after gaining vengeance, threats to their preservation will continue to emerge and they will continue to slaughter anyone who stands in their way.
How do you include the biology of undeath into your RP:
That question could be awnsered a few ways. In the context of how it relates to the character(s) Its important to note the co-relation between the kind of undead you are dealing with and what it was/did in life. Generally what you see people dying from corresponds to what it will do when its in Unlife. Zombies aquire their state a lot of times from the act of eating, being eaten/bitten, and in unlife they exaggerate this dramatically as tho it were an unstable desire; even tho it serves no biological function. For non-corporeal undead (spirits?) it seems to follow a similar pattern only it deals with emotion. Things in life that were afflicted by some extreame emotion seem to become spiritual monstrosities of these characteristics in undeath. Banshees screaming to wraiths brooding off negative emotions its all related.
There are also the anamolies to take into-account like the golems of bone and flesh, or the more commonly seen Abominations, each having some similar characteristics, it makes for creating them icly a viable and interesting thing to RP.
Give a history of the Forsaken plague and the events in Northrend:
The Forsaken's Final solution appears to be delevered in a plague that can destroy death and undeath (and bolster their ranks with newly risen). It seems however this never came into fruation, and after years of further work the closest they could get was a Solution that litterally turned undead into piles of Goo. This would be called Blight down the line. Wrathgate saw it used against the Lich King to great effect by Putress in a simultanious power-play to usurp undercity and take out the Lich King and the Alliance's greatest generals. It ultimately fell through and lead to its banning by the horde. (awesome quest too)
How has your character accepted the changes made in the Horde after Pandaria was found?
Yasufe was surprised to find Pandarians and learn about Pandaria in general. What surprised him was the sheer ammount of Inner conflict demonstrated with being at dissonance with the Horde Leader Garrosh. He found it hard to believe the same Garrosh that had been so Influential at the Ice-crown Citadel and its seiging would result in so much damage to not only his own faction but that entire land as a whole.
What about Draenor? Has your character ventured through the portal?
Yasufe has infact been through the dark Portal but it was to investigate information from the Shadowmoon Necromancers specifically. He continues to spend much of his time in the outskirts of Lorderon.
How does your undead feel about the changes within the Horde and the new warchief?
Being that He is currently still In the alliance(neutral?) he doesn't acutally have any points of comparison, altho learning of Vol'jin being the new warcheif he is beginning to get the feeling that the Horde is in its stages of decline rather than bolstering in strength. This may mean a renewed move on Lorderon from the Alliance in the future even tho he hasn't heard any word of it so far; Politically the Blood Elves and Forsaken seem to be in the weakest position with this kind of arrangment still.
Which do you think is more awesome? Dinosaurs or Dragons?
Because Wrathion, the Black Prince, all day every day. Besides his pops has the absolute coolest dragon visage I've ever seen in fantasy.
