[Josandus]: Sparrow knocks politely and waits to be admitted.
[Thadden]: Thadden looked over to the doorway as he happened to be shuffling a hefty stack of papers in his hands. "Oh come on in. It is unlocked."
[Josandus]: Sparrow walks in and offers the therapist a smile. "Hello again. It's good to see you."
[Josandus]: Sparrow offers his hand for a hand shake.
[Thadden]: He could not help but return the smile as well as a nod. Thadden lifted a hand and extended it in order to shake the priests hand. "Hello! Now. Please won't you have a seat over there?" He gestured with his head over to the corner where a chair happened
to be sitting.
[Josandus]: Sparrow takes a seat and makes himself comfortable.
[Thadden]: As Josandus sat down he as well stepped back to take a seat. His papers were put to the side as he opened a very plain leather book. "Now...we can start with your name. What name do you go by?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow pauses. "For you? Sparrow or Josandus, even Jos would be fine. No need for titles and whatnot."
[Thadden]: "Ah so you are one that prefers others to use titles?"
[Josandus]: "It's situational, if someone wishes to play the titles game than I oblige. Otherwise I'm content to go with more familiar forms of address, besides my time with the Forsaken has garnered me a few titles and it can all be a tad unwieldy, not to mention pretentious."
[Thadden]: "I see then. Josandus sounds like a name that a living person would have. Is this by chance your former name as well?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow nods. "It is indeed. My name in life was Josandus J. Hartchorde, of the noble family of the same name."
[Thadden-MoonGuard]: Thadden looked down at his book. "Ah so Sparrow is not your former name. Is there a particular reason you chose that for undeath?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow leans back in his chair and thinks. "I would say 'It is because sparrows are migratory, it is a reminder of those who fled Lordaeron, and to never forgive them', but the real reason is that traditional superstition holds that sparrows carry the souls of the dead to the afterlife. That's what I strove for, to help lost souls; -that- is the real meaning of the name I picked."
[Thadden]: Thadden began to write s few things down in his book. Silence overcame him as he wanted to make sure he was caught up before he continued. "So you value souls? Are you a religious man of some sort?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow nods. "You are correct on both counts. I place great value in souls. After we die, that is all that's left; it's the final record that we were here at all. When one is destroyed?" Sparrow shakes his head. "It's absolutely terrible."
[Thadden]: "So you are not fond of the art of destruction, more so creation.”
[Josandus]: "There is value in each, however, I draw the line at souls. Those are sacred. For instance, it isn't hard for us to imagine death, but could you fathom the entirety of your existence ceasing entirely? No sleep, no darkness, just gone. I would never wish that upon anyone, not even my most hated enemy."
[Thadden]: "Did you always think this way, or only after you were reanimated?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow smirks and lets out a huff of laughter. "There was a time when I thought that 'the line' was at someone's life. I was a young child then, I didn't realize that sometimes people need to die for the good of others. That isn't to say that I gladly kill now without remorse, but there is a worse fate than the end of one's corporal existence."
[Thadden]: "Would you say that undeath has forced you to grow up so to speak?"
[Josandus]: "I can't say that with impunity. Azeroth has forced me to grow up..." Sparrow pauses and gives the question more thought. "Actually, I'd say it has. I learned of the cruelty of the world early on, though I was buffered from the worst of it by my Father. I learned that most of the time the right word is the key to avoiding a fight, as opposed to using the right spell or weapon."
[Thadden]: "Ah so you prefer to just avoid fighting if you are able to. You spoke of your father, and that stands out to me on this. Is he by chance why you turned out to be as you are?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow nods. "There's often more to be gained from a diplomatic discussion than a fight." Sparrow shifts, discomforted by the next topic. "He is the reason I'm alive again."
[Thadden]: "In what way do you mean that? Did he raise you? Or did he have someone raise you by chance?"
[Josandus]: "Just to be clear, this is completely confidential, correct?"
[Thadden]: "Of course it is. It would be illegal for me to share any information."
[Josandus]: "He raised me personally, at great cost to himself. I am incredibly grateful to him for this second chance."
[Thadden]: "Was it a soul exchange sort of situation?”
[Josandus]: Sparrow shakes his head, it takes him a moment to speak again. "He... When he found out about the Cult of the Damned, he didn't move against them... He joined them. He did this so that he could learn the secrets of reanimation. He chose me over Lordaeron... I'm not saying that he could have prevented the Scourging from happening, but he did make the decision to go along with them despite their plans."
[Thadden]: "I see then." Thadden started to write something else down in his book. "So that is probably where you get your ability to help souls? From your father?"
[Josandus]: "It's something of a familial trait... Many of us could see or sense them, but I wanted to help them. There are so few with the skill -and- the inclination to help souls, it feels like a responsibility; no, that implies that I'm not happy to help..."
[Josandus]: Sparrow sighs. "At any rate... My Father taught me much of the principles of Shadow and Mind related magics. The helping souls thing, was more intuition and talking to them, doing a simple task so that they could 'let go'."
[Josandus]: smirks. "More along the lines of what you're doing for me. I didn't get really good until Madam Seleste started teaching me about Necromancy."
[Thadden]: "Ah yes. Miss Seleste. I imagine that is where you gain your respect for the souls?"
[Josandus]: "I had a respect for souls before meeting her. It was a relief to meet someone with views in keeping with my own. She's quite a remarkable woman."
[Thadden]: "Is she a positive person you surround yourself with? Or at least keep in your company?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow smiles, the expression reaching all the way up to wrinkle his eyes. "I try to, but she's a busy woman. Additionally, her husband is something of a...." Sparrow takes a deep breath. "How can I put it? He isn't particularly pleasant."
[Thadden]: Thadden pauses for a moment. "You feel Ivan Sibelius?"
[Josandus]: "The one and only. I...would like to like him, but the flaws in his character make it rather difficult."
[Thadden]: "What about him bothers you?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow clears his throat. "Chiefly that he destroys souls, he doesn't take their energy and send them on, he completely destroys them. Obviously that goes against my principles... He looks down on nearly everyone; he kills people, people that I like;
He's a misogynist or at least thinks it's funny... That's a fairly good list for now."
[Thadden]: "So his methods are what concerns you mostly. Is he someone you would choose to keep out of your company?"
[Josandus]: "If Madam Seleste suddenly stopped caring about him then I would kill him." Sparrow states this plainly, without malice. "Another issue I have with him is that he 'has plans' for Valinette; his 'plans' tend to go well for himself and poorly for everyone else involved."
[Thadden]: "Ah Valinette. I remember speaking with her a few weeks ago. I understand the two of you are very close?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow nods. "We are...somewhat more so than I'd like recently..."
[Thadden]: "More so than you'd like? Why is that? Are things progressing too fast for your liking?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow laughs. "No, not like that. I consider myself something of a 'family man', I've wanted a wife and children since -I- was a child... No, it isn't that sort of thing. Recently Valinette had an 'accident' and ended up dying because of it. I resurrected her, however, the method of resurrection uses my own Shadow to animate another; so it's a little 'too close' sometimes."
[Thadden]: "Oh. Yes I think I understand now. Well you can look at it in a positive light perhaps. Now she will always be a part of you, no matter what happens to either one of you. I have just a few more questions then I will move on to a little series of tests..what type of people would you say you surround yourself with?"
[Josandus]: "Useful people...though I'd prefer more who are 'nice'."
[Thadden]: "Useful in what way? In regard to getting you out of situations?"
[Josandus]: "I... No, they're just generally good at their jobs. There's only a small number who've helped me out of bad situations, namely one: Valinette."
[Thadden]: "You speak of her often. You must really be fond of her?"
[Josandus]: "She's amazing, I just wish more people saw it."
[Thadden]: "So you do not think people see her the way that you do?"
[Josandus]: "I think that a lot of people we interact with couldn't see the value of a gold ingot if they had a mirror in their other hand."
[Thadden]: "You seem to think you have a great deal of idiots in your company..."
[Josandus]: "Ah, no... I wouldn't call them idiots... There are many who are incredibly intelligent. However, I wouldn't call them 'wise' or 'charismatic' or 'polite'."
[Thadden]: "None are polite? That sounds like a problem."
[Josandus]: "Madam Seleste is polite. Ah, I would say Sanari is polite as long as she deems you worthy of it. Jarclair has good bearing. The LoV isn't devoid of manners entirely."
[Thadden]: Thadden wrote for a bit more. "Alright. I have learned a great deal about you so far. Are you ready for my test?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow nods.
[Thadden]: "I am going to say a single word and I want you to say to me the first thing that you think of when I say it. I do not mean repeat the work back to me, but say the first image you think of in a single word that enters your mind.”
[Josandus]: "Alright. Sounds simple."
[Thadden]: "Ribbon."
[Josandus]: "Sister."
[Thadden]: "Black."
[Josandus: "Scythe."
[Thadden]: "Morning."
[Josandus]: "Home."
[Thadden]: Thadden paused for a moment and started to write something down. "Home? Why home?"
[Josandus]: "If I'm not home, then I should be heading home."
[Thadden]: "When the morning comes?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow nods. "I don't do much sleeping unless... 'someone' asks me to. I spend much of my evening outdoors enjoying the moonlight and stars."
[Josandus]: Sparrow offers belatedly. "Valinette is the someone."
[Thadden]: "Well I am not one to assume but I had a thought that it might be her."
[Thadden]: "Fire."
[Josandus]: "Valinette."
[Josandus]: Sparrow looks away bashfully. "I guess I do think of her a lot..."
[Thadden]: "Fire reminds you of her?"
[Josandus]: "She casts fire magic primarily..." Sparrow clears his throat. "And she's warm like fire..."
[Thadden]: "I see. Well I believe that is all I have for tonight. Would you care to hear my evaluation so far?"
Josandus]: Sparrow smiles tentatively. "Sure, how bad could it be?"
[Thadden]: Thadden reaches up with his hand and removes his monocle for a moment before putting it back in its place. "I believe you feel somewhat responsible for the death of your father seeing as how he is the reason you are sitting right across from me. You choose the art of soul worship and respect, perhaps in regard to show his departed soul respect in hopes that it will allow some of your guilt to fade away. I think your fathers former profession is why you decided to fall the same path as it makes you feel closer to him in a way. You are opposite in personality to Valinette and that attracts you to her deeply. She is the type of person you need to depend on in order to continue, as without her you would feel depressed and perhaps beat yourself up for
not being able to save your father. With her there, she is there to remind you that things are alright and in your state you need someone like that around; which is why you consider her the most valuable to you.”
[Josandus]: "That's disturbingly accurate. Though I do actually share some blame in my father's death..."
[Thadden]: "Share blame? How do you share blame?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow blinks. "I was there."
[Thadden]: "There as in witnessed it? Or had a part in it?"
[Josandus]: Sparrow shakes his head forlornly. "I was there, I -could- have fought, but I was frozen with indecision."
[Josandus]: "Anyways, it is a touch late, is it not?"
[Thadden]: "Well you can not beat yourself up over the past. And yes, I believe it is. You have given me a great deal of information for me to have a few questions ready to ask for you next time."
[Josandus]: Sparrow smiles and offers his hand out for another shake. "Well, if it was that easy people like you might be out a job. I look forward to our next meeting."
[Thadden: Thadden takes his hand and returns the handshake. "Ha ha! As do I. Do be safe, Josandus."
[Josandus]: "You too, Thadden", with that said he walks out of the office giving a final wave over his shoulder as he goes.
[Thadden]: Thadden looked over to the doorway as he happened to be shuffling a hefty stack of papers in his hands. "Oh come on in. It is unlocked."
[Josandus]: Sparrow walks in and offers the therapist a smile. "Hello again. It's good to see you."
